Made on a spring machine using spring steel or stainless steel material, usually used for threaded connections to prevent loosening. After the nut is tightened, the cotter pin is inserted into the nut slot and the bolt tail hole and the end of the cotter pin is wrenched away to prevent relative rotation of the nut and bolt.
